Manufacturing resources

In this movie I want to point out some manufacturing resources that might help out, once you've got your design complete, and is ready to built. This company here is called Rapid Sheet Metal, I've used them several times in the past and they've been really great with quick turn parts and at a reasonable price. Also take a look here up here at Quick Parts; they have all types of different sheet metal and machine parts, as well as sheet metal, investment casting, all types of different things that you can do for quick turn parts. Take a look over here under ThomasNet, which is a supplier for just about anything you can imagine.

Just go ahead and search for what you're looking for like sheet metal or laser cutting or any of those type of things. And you'll get a ton of companies and you can sort by region. For wherever you're at and what type of process you want. Again, a lot of great companies are listed in this directory and good place to look. JobShop.com or as well as the Job Shop show. These guys run a trade show that goes all across the United States and you can see when the show is going to be and probably coming to a town near you. Great way to go and find suppliers for your products. They've got everything from prototype companies all the way through however long the production there.

And you can also search online for different companies who have been at their shows or listed in their directory. And they also put a, a directory every year for different suppliers, though it's a great thing if you get ahold of one of those, keep it in your desk. If you're looking for a company because there's literally tons of different companies for every different type of process you can imagine, they're all listed in that directory so it's a great thing to have when you're working with. Sheet metal parts, or really any type of parts out there. PEM, if you're doing any type of sheet metal work, you're probably going to be using some type of PEM fastener at some point in time.

They've got a ton of different things here. Definitely get a hold of one of their catalogs. Or you can download the different data sheets from their site here. You can download the 3D CAD parts to bring into your designs. Is a really great resource and you're probably be using it all the time. I know I'm on this website almost daily, downloading parts, looking at things and you can go ahead and build your own CAD library of these different parts and build a library inside of Sawhorse. You can just drag and drop these parts in. They've already got the part number and the descriptions are already pre-assigned to them and you're ready to go. And finally, McMaster Carr.

Any type of hardware for screws, bolts, nuts, you name it they've got a huge library of parts you can download and just bring them into your design with an exact part number. Again, you don't necessarily have to use the McMaster part at the end of the day, but it does give a nice part number you can assign to your part. And you can always say this is a part number or equivalent and find it somewhere else. You might find it at a cheaper place or a higher volume supplier because McMASTER is generally set up for lower volume stuff. For prototyping and then you might move to a supplier later but most everybody will cross reference a part from them.

So those are a few references that might help out with your manufacturing process. Again, great things to search out there, a lot of different opportunities for sheet metal as well as any type of manufacturing. When you're building parts, take a look at some of these things. I hope they help you out.
