If I've done my preliminary research of the client's website, social media, and products, I should go in with at least a starting idea of the type of video the company might want, level of quality expected, and the company's identity. However, there is still some important preliminary questions I like to ask every client at the very first meeting for promo, commercial or corporate video project. I recommend that you use some variation or combination of these simple questions to try to determine what direction and approach you want to take with the video. Specifically, you want to try to nail down five core things at that meeting. The project goal, the audience, call to action, schedule and budget. Even if they don't have all the answers right then, you want them to at least start thinking more specifically about these things. Goal. Why do you want to make this video? Audience.
