Lighting the green screen
So, once your green screen is in place and you've got all the wrinkles smoothed out, you're ready to start lighting the screen itself. In any green screen setup there are two things you have to light, the green screen and your subject. Like I said earlier, you can pretty much use any type of light, but the softer and bigger, the better when it comes to lighting the green screen. If you're using hard light sources, such as an open face light, or Fresnel, you just want to make sure you have them flooded, not spotted. And you also want to make sure that they're well diffused to avoid hot spots. So, a nice thick piece of diffusion or better yet, a soft box, will usually do the trick. You want to set your lights as even as possible on each side. So again, the same type of light set at the same distance is ideal.
