Get it all on paper first

- Tip number two, get it all on paper first. When you make a project, especially at the end of your short film level, chances are that you're the writer, director, producer, and possibly even wearing the extra hats of DP, location manager, or more. You know the script, the shooting schedule, and the most important things you need to accomplish to make the day. The issue to keep in mind is that your crew, talent, and the other people you're working with, they don't know any of that stuff. So it's great that you have the whole project in your head, that's definitely the most important place it has to be, but the second most important place, that's equally crucial for the success of your production, is getting all those things down on paper, or otherwise clearly communicating them so that they can also be in everyone else's head on set. The more you put down on paper, schedules, shot lists, location photos, storyboards, etc., the more you will enable your team to help you plan to execute…
