- Now Rich, shotguns are great, especially as you said sort of a run and gun situation because you're getting a sort of a little reach into the room. But you know they still have a problem with the fact that they're not really on the person. So, you're going to hear a lot of the room, sort of crowd noise or whatever the situation you might find yourself in. That's why there's a better solution, especially for things like interviews and things of that nature and that's just a lav mic. - Yeah, and there's all sorts of budget lav mics out there. You know, lav is short for lavalier. This is a little tiny one that just attaches. It's a bit directional. You can bend it, and this is really just designed to get slipped through someone's button hole, but I have others that I have used as well that come with clamps.
