Creating custom forms for data sources
Unfortunately, when it comes to working with data sources, such as XML files, SOAP services, RSS, or REST services, you're more limited to the forms you can create and customize. You are pretty much stuck with the standard New Item, Edit Item, and Display Item Forms, rather than groovy InfoPath content. To do this, you're going to simply create a new page in your Site Pages library. Let's say I'll create one here and call this northwindEntry.aspx. I am going to make this an Add Item Form for the Northwind products table. I jump into it and click Edit. Nothing is automatic about this. This page has not been automatically generated, but clicking here in the placeholder, I can then jump up here to the Insert tab and I have my choices of New Item Form, Edit Item Form, and Display Item Form. I am picking New Item here. I'll come down to Products on Northwind. This is a regular database data source connection rather than an external content type. Now, it's taken a guess here and it's not…
