Rick Schmunk Dr. Richard Schmunk is an assistant professor of pedagogical technology at the USC Thornton School of Music. To his work he brings the practical experience of 30 years as a professional musician, a clear vision for the future of new technologies in both music performance and education, and a passion for teaching. Rick has held positions in both the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) and the Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME). He is an active music technology clinician and presenter at conferences and workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada. His work encompasses two distinct audiences: music educators and young people aspiring to careers in the music industry. Rick's teaching reflects his commitment to equipping student musicians and those guiding their professional development with the tools, knowledge, and skills necessary for success in the rapidly evolving musical workplace of the 21st century.
