If you find yourself repeatedly using similar output settings, you'll definitely want to save them as a preset for future use. Quark calls these Print Styles. You can create and select Print Styles from this handy menu here. Right now, it indicates that I have Custom Settings for this particular print job. Well, I can choose the Default Print Output Style, which is rarely what you want to do, or I can create a New Print Output Style, which will remember all of these settings and allow me to reselect them at any time just by choosing it from this Print Style menu. So, let's save it and see what we get.
That says what would you like to call this. Well, I'm going to call this my 5500 regmarks color, because in my mind those are the important changes that I made to this Print dialog. When I click OK, now it's one of the selectable options under Print Styles and the next time I go to print a job, all I have to do is select it right here and all the setting I made right here will match what I just did. That little feature can save you a ton of time and a whole lot of mistakes when you're outputting. So that's it. You are now an expert in everything there is in the Print dialog box.
I know it looked pretty formidable to begin with, but if you take each little choice in order, you wind up with exactly the kind of output that you're after and once you've combined them in a way that makes sense for the kinds of work that you commonly do, go ahead and save it as a Print Style, so you can use it later and not have to go through all these again. Oh and by the way, when you're looking at the proxy, if you are confused by what these little marks are, just click this little question mark here and it will show you a legend that explains what they mean. I appreciate the way Quark tries to look out for you during printing. Print Styles make it much less likely that you'll forget to set a specific control, the way it needs to be set and the Preview gives you a live feedback on what you can expect to see, when your Layout comes out of the output device.
