Using video scopes to analyze brightness and contrast

Let me ask you a question. Would you get on a commercial airline flight, if the pilot didn't have any instruments that they use to fly the plane? Probably not. You probably wouldn't trust a pilot who's just kind of going hey, I'll fly the plane, we'll go wherever we go. Instruments in a cockpit help a pilot know not only where they're going, but know things like their altitude, and how fast they're going. And videoscopes serve the same purpose, for giving you information about your shots that you're using in a project. They'll let you see things like how bright and how dark a shot is, how saturated it is, what colors are present. In a shot. In this movie, the first of a couple that we're going to talk about using video scopes, I want to explore the idea of measuring contrast or brightness in shots.
