Consolidating a timeline

So you've decided that you're going to hand off a project to another artist. Maybe that artist is a colorist, or an audio mixer, or a motion graphic designer. And one of the things I always tell editors before handing off their projects, is to clean up their own work. Now, oftentimes as you're going along, and you're putting a project together, you're kind of being a little sloppy, if you're honest with yourself, about how you're putting that project together. Using multiple video tracks where you can just use one track. Maybe you've disabled some clips and you were thinking to yourself oh, I'll come back later and clean that up. Maybe you have layers in your sequence that are doing absolutely nothing. Or maybe you have multiple clips stacked on top of each other because you were kind of auditioning your shots.
