The Quicken 2014 mobile App is an alternate method of accessing your spending account information directly from your mobile phone or tablet. The Quicken 2014 mobile App is available for the iPad, iPhone and Android mobile devices. However, it only works with the Quicken 2014 for Windows software. It does not work with earlier versions of Quicken or Quicken for Mac. You'll need to be connected to the internet from your mobile device to use this software. Quicken Mobile syncs your financial information between your desktop software and your mobile device, so you can enter, edit and categorize transactions, check your account balances and your budget from your mobile device, and even snap photos of your important receipts and save them to your account.
It's important to note, that this is an optional add-on App with very limited features. It's not a substitute for the desktop software. The Quicken mobile App has a much more limited feature set than the Quicken desktop software. And you can't even use it if you don't have the desktop software installed. However, you may find it handy, to use the mobile App for checking your transactions, balances, or budget when you're away from your computer. Or for helping you keep track of receipts while you are shopping or travelling. Also like being able to categorize my downloaded transactions on my mobile phone or tablet, only your spending accounts, your checking savings cash and credit card accounts can be synced with your mobile device.
Investing account balances and transactions, cannot be synced with Quicken mobile. Also, only the online balance from your financial institution will be synced from Quicken mobile. Your current balance that's available on your desktop software, will only be accurate from the last time you did a one step update from your desktop. Here's how the Quicken Mobile App works. It's controlled from within your desktop software. First you set up your desktop software to share your spending account and budget information with Intuit's cloud server. Then you install your Quicken mobile App and you can view that information in the cloud, from within the mobile App.
You must keep both your desk top and mobile App synced with the cloud in order to see accurately updated information on your mobile device. Lets take a quick look, at how the Quicken mobile App controls look from the desktop software. I'll click the Mobile and alerts tab to see this window. There's an overview that shows the accounts and budgets that you've enabled to sync with the cloud and any email and text alerts you've set up. You can sync to the cloud from here or the mobile sync can be included in your one step update. Now let's look at the mobile App on your mobile device. It opens with a view of your spending transaction in a donut chart view with links to your account registers and the budgets you've enabled.
With this App, you can view, enter, and categorize transactions, or take photos of receipts, and add them to your transactions in the account registers. You can also see a quick view of how you are doing on you budget. The Quicken mobile App has some helpful features for staying up to date on you transactions, monitoring your budget, and keeping track of receipts while you are on the go.
