Pinterest is a social media tool that allows you to bookmark content around the web in a visually pleasing arrangement. In this course, author Justin Seeley illustrates the basics of setting up and managing a Pinterest account and explores ideas for finding inspiration. Fill out your profile, add friends, and start pinning. Discover how to share activity on Facebook and Twitter, add your own image and video pins, and plan for activities like a wedding or vacation. The course also covers pinning on the go with the iOS and Android apps.
Pinterest seems to be very highly integrated with Facebook. There is more than one way to share the activity that you have here on Pinterest with your Facebook friends. In this movie, I am going to be exploring both of those ways, the first of which is very simple. You simply click a pin to access it in the Lightbox mode, and I will pause this video so it doesn't play. And then on the right-hand side you can see there is a Facebook Like button. If I click this, I have then liked it with my Facebook profile. That will then show up in my Facebook Timeline, indicating that I liked this pin on Pinterest.
If other people visit this same pin, they will actually see that I liked it as well. I can click away from this to close it and return back to the main Pinterest page. If I wish for Pinterest to automatically publish information to my Timeline based upon the new pins that I create, I can do so in my account settings. I will go back up to my name and I'll go down to Settings. In the Settings section, I am going to scroll down until I see the Facebook option. Once I found Facebook, I want to make sure it's turned on which this is how I created my account to begin with, so it's automatically turned on.
And then I can also turn on Publish Activity to Facebook Timeline. If I choose this, it's going to launch Facebook and tell me here that I need to add the Pinterest app. I will Add to Facebook and it returns me back to Pinterest. If you'd like to learn more about publishing your Pinterest activity to your Facebook Timeline, you can choose Learn more. That will launch the Pinterest blog, and it will explain to you the ins and outs of sharing your Pinterest activity on your Facebook Timeline. In any case, sharing your Pinterest activity is a great way to spread your ideas that you're having on Pinterest, as well as make more people aware of the Pinterest network itself and thus, it'll help grow your online social ecosystem.
