Rearranging and deleting boards

Video: Rearranging and deleting boards

We've already seen how to create and even how to edit the details of our board, but in this movie I'm going to be exploring how to sort of rearrange how the boards appear on Pinterest and also how to get rid of the board if you think you need to delete it. So let's go up now and go to my profile page. I'll just of this click my name, and that takes me to my profile. And directly underneath my profile information, you can see all of the boards that I have. So I have My Vacation 2012, which has no pins in it right now. I have a Photography board, which has 1 pin. I have my lynda.com videos with 10 pins and my Wedding Plans with 7 pins.

Rearranging and deleting boards

So the Photography pin I am really not going to be able to do much with, because of the fact that there's only 1 pin in it. However, if I don't like the way the cover looks on this pin, I can choose Edit Board Cover and I can actually rearrange this a little bit. So if I think the crop needs to be down here because I am more interested in the beach, I can hit Set Cover and once I do that, the cover changes. Now once I get a second look at it I am thinking, I don't really like that, so let's edit it again and I'll just drag it back down. Maybe I need to crop it a little bit more like this.

I'll move it to the left and up a little bit. Set Cover. That looks better. Same for the lynda.com videos. I'll choose Edit Board Cover and I'll cycle through, and I am going to stop right here on Deke. I can reposition Deke around, something like that, and then hit Set Cover. That way Deke is now the face of my lynda.com videos. If you find that you don't need a board any more on Pinterest, you can actually remove that board from your Pinterest account. So for instance, if I want to remove the My Vacation board--I haven't really added anything to it; maybe I'm no longer going on vacation-- I'll hit Edit and then at the top, I can select Delete Board.

Pinterest comes up and says, "Are you sure you want to permanently delete this board?" If you choose Cancel, you're taken right back out and you can continue using Pinterest. If you choose Delete Board, the board is deleted. So let's click that and as you can see, when I return back to my profile, the My Vacation 2012 board has disappeared. I now have an empty space over here for a new board, and I can continue using Pinterest. So, hopefully by now you have a better understanding of how to rearrange the appearance of your boards and also how to get rid of unwanted boards if the need should arise.
