Next, I'm going to demonstrate how you upload your photos to a very popular photo-enthusiast site called SmugMug. If you haven't noticed there is no SmugMug button down there. So how do you find it? Well, this is a chance to reiterate how to go out there and find a Picasa button of the service of your choice. So what I did, it's pretty easy. I went up to Google. I just did a Google Search for SmugMug Picasa uploader. The very first entry is directly from SmugMug itself. Go ahead and click on that page.
This is great. Have you got Picasa? Yes, I do. Here is how. Click here. Perfect. Opens up an application. It says use Picasa to install this. Sure enough. Let's do that. Launch Picasa and import the buttons? Yes please. Let's do it. There is the SmugMug button. I want to add it directly to my service. I'm going to move it down to the last one here, right after Flickr, and I'm going to hit OK. That's exactly how you add a new service to Picasa. It's that easy to find it.
It should be that easy to install. So I've got some images that I want to upload to my Picasa account. From my Picasa into SmugMug. I've basically chosen them here in my tray, next thing I do, I'm going to select SmugMug itself. Here's the overlay, go ahead and hit Login, you will be presented with your Email and Password. Go ahead and type in your login credentials. Once logged in, it will ask you. Do you want to put it in a new gallery or let's create a new one? Go ahead and enter a new one.
If there is a category that this feels important to, go ahead and enter it there. There are lots of categories to choose from. I'm going to choose Travel. The next step is Picasa prepares the files for upload, and uploads them directly into the service. Once the upload is complete you'll get feedback directly in your browser. Go ahead and click here to view the gallery. The images may take a moment to process as it creates multiple versions on the server itself to accommodate your needs.
Once the images have been processed, a simple refresh on your browser will allow you to see the full detail of your uploads. Yet just another way of connecting Picasa to some of the great photo sharing services that are out there.
