It's time to talk a little bit about the customization of the share controls down here, the buttons themselves. Picasa has made a nice extensible framework, which allows Picasa to talk to a lot of different services out there. In earlier movie, I talked about how I installed a Facebook button. You can go to Facebook and just do a search for Picasa export. You can download the button directly. It's very, very nice and convenient. Well, the format itself has been created by lot of different developers. And I want to share with that a little bit with you now. So if you go to any browser and you do a search for your service of your choice, in this case, Flickr.
I did a search for Flickr Picasa button. And what I found was this .PBZ file. The PBZ file is the information needed to put a button inside Picasa. Well, how do you do that? Let me show you. Go to your computer where you have Picasa installed. Go into the Program Files, click on Google, Picasa3. In earlier emails, we talked about web. That's where we put the templates. Well, the buttons has its own folder. You can see that there is a PBZ file right there.
Well, it's pretty straightforward. I'm going to go for my Downloads and I'm going to go to the folder where it was downloaded and I'm going to drag the PBZ file directly into that location. This is where Picasa will refer to the button format. We're back at Picasa. I haven't had to close it and reopen it. I'll go directly to the Tools > Configure Buttons page and you'll see at the bottom of the page there is the new Flickr button. So what's really nice about this entire setup is I can move these services around to make it fit exactly my needs.
I have a Facebook profile. Also I have a Flickr profile. Once it's done, go ahead and hit OK. You can see that the Flickr button is now inside my tray. Well, we're going to systematically go back through and go through each individual service so that you can know how to shop and export prints, collage, movie, blog, Facebook, and Flickr. So stay tuned we're going to have a lot of fun, exporting and sharing with each of these services.
