Now that you've gotten the hang of navigating the timeline, let's go ahead and create a new timeline from scratch. Now I want to lay down a few ground rules. Throughout the rest of our lesson, we're going to be building a real world PSA. This is a public service announcement for a real client. I've given you lots of clips, more than you need. The goal here is that you experience the reality of editing a video, and let me tell you a few things about that reality. First off, editing video can be kind of a boring process. It's highly repetitive.
Sure, it'll be fun the first couple of edits you make, setting an in point and out point, trimming away handles, lining it up. But eventually it kind of becomes like lots of other tasks in Photoshop, just something you do to get to the end result, and with video there's a lot of repetitive steps to get to that end result. The thing I like to say is it's a lot like a painting. Everyone likes to look at paintings, but very few people like to watch the painter make the painting. To that end, I'm going to show you the essential steps, but then we'll occasionally jump forward in time. You can continue to use the exercise files in hand, or you can go ahead and take our starter projects and jump in, in progress with each exercise.
