Styling a jewelry set for a photograph

In this chapter we're going to address two issues that we've not talked about yet. First is, we're going to do a group shot of a necklace and a pair of earrings, grab them in just a single shot, and then we're also going to use continuous lighting for the first time. We'll start with selecting a background, and the considerations change a little bit because we're doing a group. We're going to see a little bit more background because we've got to expand, our shot size to accommodate the scale of the multiple pieces and the necklaces as opposed to a watch and a ring, which are fairly small objects. The first choice I want to show you is this Stucco textured mat board. You can see, there's a nice color contrast between the jewellery and the board, but, considering that we're going to see quite a bit of background, I think overall this particular choice might just be a little bit boring, it doesn't have that much visual interest.
