Now, in order for us to compress a PNG-8 file with varying transparency we're going to use some software. So there's a couple of options here, we have some commercial options, some free options, and some web based options. Now, in this course I'm going to cover two commercial applications, one's Adobe Photoshop CC for the creative cloud. This has a plugin called Adobe Generator which will give us varying transparency inside of a PNG-8. And we're also going to take a look at Adobe Fireworks which gives us the most control of any application that we're going to talk about in this course. If you're looking for a free application, you can go to pngquant which stands for PNG quantization which is pngquant.org. And if you're visiting this with a Macintosh, you can download command line tools or a couple of graphical user interface tools. The one I'm going to cover in this course is called Image Alpha.
