In this exercise we are going to take that text that we just pasted along the bottom edge of the circle that's flowing in a clockwise direction and we are going to reflow it so it goes counterclockwise and appears below the circle. So that it appears the way you would want it to appear in other words. First thing I am going to do is get this Layers palette out of my face so that I have a little more room to work. Now I want you, this is a little tricky this next step, I want you to press and hold the Ctrl key here on the PC or the Command key on the Mac, move your cursor down here and you can't see it very well but it's now appearing as an I-beam with two arrows next to it and I have my cursor hovered over the O in the word Complete right here.
Once you can see that dim view there of that I-beam cursor with arrows right and left arrows next to it then I want you, keep that Ctrl or Command key down, I want you to drag upward not right or left but directly upward and you will flip the text to the opposite side of the path. Would you have predicted that was a feature inside Photoshop? I don't think anybody would have predicted that that's just a weird one but anyway it happens to work out beautifully but with one exception of course the text is now on the inside edge of the path. It's not here in this nice black area, it's here inside this weird chaotic area here and it's squished together as well.
So we need to fan it outward and we are going to do that using baseline shift. Remember when I was telling you all those shortcuts and I mentioned that Baseline Shift option that allows you to raise and lower text with respect to the baseline and if you don't know about baseline shift you might have thought why in the world would I want to do that. Well this is one of the reasons. Go ahead and press Ctrl A or Command A on the Mac in order to select all of this text because this is a character level formatting attribute we are about to apply and then you might want to bring up the character palette so that you can track what's going on. Here's our Baseline Shift option right here this guy but we can edit it from the keyboard, I just want you to see this in practice here press Shift Alt down arrow or Shift Option down arrow on the Mac in order to shift that text down in 2 point increments at a time.
Ultimately I want you to take it down to 8 points so you can press Shift Alt down arrow 4 times in row that's Shift Option down arrow 4 times in a row on the Mac. But 8 points isn't quite far enough, I want to add a little extra so I am going to change this value to -8.5 points and then press the Enter key in order to accept that modification and then press the Enter key on the keypad in order to create your new text that's flowing from left to right along the bottom edge of the circle just the way that you would want it I would think.
Alright now I am going to switch over here to the Layers palette and I will see that I have got this new accept any other incomplete blah-blah-blah layer going on here and it's got a path associated with it of course, it's got this little temporary path item that Photoshop has added to the Paths Palette. And I am now going to turn on the other layer so that we can see them both and I am going to switch back to radio free space so that those path outlines disappear from view and everything looks utterly and completely hunky-dory and we are ready for the next step. And in the next step we are going to take this ugly horrible type at the top of the screen here and we are going to warp it and turn it into something beautiful.
