Enhancing filters with layer effects
I've saved my progress as Freaky type effect.psd. In this exercise, we're going to take these traced letters, that are a combination of Minimum, which is making the text thicker, Gaussian Blur, which is smoothing out the edges just a little bit, Motion Blur, which is essentially doing nothing. I can't figure out what in the world Motion Blur's contribution is at this point, because you may recall I set the Opacity of the effect to 0 and then somehow that's allowing Find Edges to glom on and create these dark tracings here. So now what I'd like to do is colorize that dark tracing and then Bevel the letters a little bit as well. So here's what we're going to do. We're going to apply some layer Effects, note that, to this layer that's called the guy in a mirror, because that was the top Text layer when we converted these two Text layers to a Smart Object. Why don't we go ahead and rename this object live type, so we can better keep track of what it is. All right, I'm going to drop down…
