So we have got this document open here. I'm going to go and turn on the style for the Winter layer there, and you can see I have got a nice white border here. And I'll take a closer look at that. It's a nice sharp corner and that is not what happens by default and it took me quite a while of experimenting with Photoshop to figure out how to get these sharp corners. And so I'm going to pass that knowledge on to you, in case you have run into the same issue. So we are going to zoom down a little bit and let's go ahead and create a Layer Style for this Fall picture here. And to that we are going to go to the fx icon and choose Stroke. It brings up the Layer Style dialog box and uses the defaults settings here. Okay, first thing we are going to do is to change the color to white, so I just click on the black color chip there and scroll over to the white section.
Let's bring up the size to be a bit thicker here. And this is what I'm talking about. You see the corner here, it's round and I want that to be a sharp corner. And notice because the default Position of your stroke is set to Outside, it's one of those things where you have to learn Photoshop, touch every menu command, touch every pop-up menu and see what's hiding underneath the options there. If you choose the Inside option, the stroke will go to the inside of the image and you get sharp corners as a result. Who knew? Well, now you know when you want sharp corners choose Inside for the Position instead of Outside.
