Every once in a while, you may want to change the orientation or the start point of your Rulers. So let's begin by turning our rulers on, Command+R, Ctrl+R, and you can see my documents in the Full Screen mode now, because the Rulers are behind the toolbar. So I'm just going to press the letter F twice until my document's either floating or it's out of the Full Screen mode. So I can still see my Rulers. Let me go ahead and drag the resize window a little bit, make it little bigger. This little intersection of the dotted line in the upper left hand corner where the rulers intersect with each other, that's the origin point. And you can see that the origin point for document is always the upper left hand corner of the documents. Some people call it the zero, zero point.
You can change this if you want your guides to be oriented from a different zero, zero point, just click in the interaction of the rulers and drag that where you want. So if you wanted your zero, zero point to be the vertical center of the document and lined up with the top edge, I've just lined up my cursor there. Now you can see it works to the right and to the left starting from that new zero point. If I want the zero, zero to be in the absolute center of the document, again I can line drag the intersection of the rulers. Line it up with the half way mark and with that zero mark there, and when I let go, I have got a new zero point for both the horizontal and vertical center of the document.
When you want to reset the zero, zero point back to the default upper left hand corner, simply double-click on the intersection of those rulers and you'll reset your zero, zero point.
