Here is another quick shortcut. You are going to use it all the time. If you haven't learned this one already, make sure you memorize this particular movie. It's changing Opacity with your keyboard of a layer. So I have got this layer selected to Shape 1, layer here and with my Move tool, I just press V for move if it's not already selected. You just go ahead and type a number on your keyboard. So if I type 5, it changes the layer opacity to 50%. You can see the Opacity changing here in the Opacity Widget of the Layers panel. If I type a 9, it's 90%, so typing a number changes it in 10% increments. Two for 20%, five for 50% and so on.
To get back to 100%, you type the 0. It might seem a little weird, but if you look at the keyboard, it's one three zero from left to right, so zero actually means 100% there. If you want a little bit more granular control and you want to do single digit increments instead of 10%, just type two numbers quickly. So if I wanted 37, I just three, seven, very quickly or five, five gives me 55%. So, very quick easy ways to change layer opacity. With the move tool selected, just tap a number.
