If you change the default settings for the Crop tool so that you are not deleting the cropped pixels, when you click and then apply the crop, Photoshop is keeping track of that extra data. And sure enough, if I use my Move tool, when I reposition this layer, we can see that extra data. But I would like Photoshop to be able to actually extend my canvas size to get all of that information back. The easiest way to do this is simply select Image and then Reveal All and Photoshop will create a canvas large enough to show all of that hidden data.

Make the video wide, narrow, full-screen, or pop the player out of the page into its own window.
Click on text in the transcript to jump to that spot in the video. As the video plays, the relevant spot in the transcript will be highlighted.
