So if you're like me, there are a few filters that you probably use over and over and over again, things like Gaussian Blur or maybe Unsharp Mask or Add Noise or whatever filter you've used often, and you will note that none of those filters actually have keyboard shortcuts assigned to them by default, but you certainly can create your own. Let's open up the Keyboard Shortcut Editor, Command+Option+Shift+K, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+K. It's also under the Edit menu down at the bottom and let's simply navigate to the menu command that we want to assign the keyboard shortcut to. So under the Application menus, there is the Filter menu. Let's twirl that down and let's scroll down until we get to the first one, let's say Gaussian Blur. And I click on that and I'm going to type in Command+F2 and that will make the keyboard shortcut to open up the Blur > Gaussian Blur.
We'll scroll down to say Noise > Add Noise, okay. We'll make that Command+F3 and then lastly, we'll go to say Sharpen > Unsharp Mask and we'll make that Command+F4, awesome. Okay, so let's click OK. Now let's try these out. Command+F2 brings up Gaussian Blur. I'll hit Cancel. Command+F3 brings up Add Noise, I'll hit Cancel again, and Command+F4 sure enough brings up Unsharp Mask. So nice timesavers that save you from the hunting and pecking through the menus and trying to remember what menu that particular filter was under. Just assign on a keyboard shortcut and it will be much faster to access your favorite filters.
