The other major new addition to the application interface chrome if you will is this notion of the Application Bar. And that is the strip you see here at the very top of the screen, just below the menu. Now, on the Mac, it looks slightly different than the PC version. The PC version also includes the main level menus. If there is room, they will all fit in the same row, as these other buttons inside the Application Bar. On the Mac, the main top-level menu stays at the top of the screen here. So the Application Bar offers shorter or quicker access to common commands. If you wanted to change your View percentage, if you want to switch over to Bridge, your View Options were showing grids and what not.
I think the thing that I like the most about the Application Bar is the Arrange Documents widget. So this gives you very quick access to tiling and arranging multiple open documents as well as matching zoom and location between multiple documents. And then of course the other thing is the Quick Workspace Switcher in the far right. So it's not that it's really earth shattering. A lot of people choose to turn this off because they don't like the screen real estate that it takes up. So if you do want to turn it off, there's I do it. You have to have the Application Frame on the Mac turned off to be able to get to the Application Bar command so you can see it's grayed out because I have the Application Frame turned on.
If I turn the App Frame, off, the Application Bar is like any other panel where it can be un-docked from the end of the screen. So if I actually pull it off and float it, you will see that it actually takes up less space. So there are people who actually still like the App Bar but they don't like how much space it takes up, so they un-dock it, float it anywhere they want or even put it on a second monitor. If you don't want it to open at all because you just don't see that it adds value, you can just turn off the Application Bar altogether, okay. So your choice, but one slight little trick there, if you do want to get rid of it on the Mac at least, you have to turn the Application Frame off, before you are allowed to turn off the Application Bar.
