Now that we are learning more and more about Layers, in the next couple of movies what I want to start to talk about its how we can organize our Layers. We will be working on the file the_daily _sojourn_1. Go and select it and press Command+A on a Mac or Ctrl+O on a PC. That's yet another way to open up an image in Photoshop. You have to go Full Screen View mode, Spacebar, click and reposition. Now these are some photographs that I took a while ago and I put them in these little strips and I thought it would be fun to kind of align them in a way to create this repeating pattern with the colors because I thought the colors were kind of interesting.
So here you can see that I'm clicked into layer 4, or I can click through my different layers. We notice that one through four, those are the image layers. Those are the ones we want to align. So we will click in one of them, hold down the Shift key and then click in another. So that they are all selected. Now when we do that, you will notice in your Options bar there are a whole new set of options and these have to do with different ways that you can align your images. Now there are some that won't work for us, for example, if I try to align these vertically, they are now all on one vertical line. It doesn't really work for me. Press Command+Z on the Mac/Ctrl+Z on a PC.
On the other hand, let's say I try to align them horizontally, well, that will work for me, right? The grid is now evenly spaced out, except the images are too far to the left. Well, because I have all the Layers selected, I can use my arrow keys and I can reposition those layers and get them to adjust the right spot here. Now the down arrow, the right arrow. Okay, that's good. On the other hand, if I don't want to use my arrow keys, I can click and drag this whole, entire group. All right, well, so far, so good. I have been able to align those, reposition them. That looks nice, but I'm not exactly sure if the space between the layers is exactly the same. In order to make that space the same, I'll go ahead and choose the option which allows me to Distribute the vertical centers and now I have even space between all of those different layers and we learned a little about how we can begin to organize and align our layers inside of Photoshop.
