Photoshop CS4 Extended for Video
Video duration: 0s 3h 44m Intermediate

For those who want to make great videos, but don't have a full-scale video editing application, Photoshop CS4 Extended can save the day. In Photoshop CS4 Extended for Video, Chad Perkins shows how Photoshop can be integrated into a video development process. Chad applies his video production know-how to the software's feature set in order to complete intermediate and advanced video tasks, including working with 3D objects and making slip edits. He also presents a real-world project demonstrating the popular technique of isolating and animating the components of a still image. Exercise files accompany this course.

Topics include:
  • Setting and editing start and end times for video
  • Applying filters to an entire video clip, or just a single frame
  • Removing objects using stack modes and cloning tools
  • Creating 2D cel animation
  • Cutting up and animating a photo in a final project
  • Working with After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Encore

(Music playing.) Hello! I'm Chad Perkins and welcome to Photoshop CS4 Extended for Video. You may think of Photoshop as primarily an imaging program, but as long as you are using Photoshop CS4 Extended, Photoshop is also a video program that can do quite a bit. We'll use the video tools within Photoshop CS4 Extended to edit video, add effects using filters, and even heal video using the familiar Photoshop tools. We can also animate within Photoshop, allowing us to change object positions and even rotation over time and animate in 2D or 3D.

We'll then bring it altogether with the real world project where we take a photo and cut up the individual elements, so we can animate them. We'll also look at other programs like Adobe Bridge, After Effects and Premiere Pro, which allow us to take our project to the next level beyond even what Photoshop Extended can do. We've got so much exciting stuff to cover. Let's jump right in.
