The video exposure triangle
The exposure triangle is extremely important when you're shooting video because you're likely going to be shooting in a manual mode for the best control. Now your camera has a built in meter to help you understand how to shoot things but you're going to still need to know how to take control and which settings to adjust and that really means balancing it out, with the exposure triangle there's three major components, you're going to have the aperture. You're going to have the ISO. And you're going to have the shutter speed. And to balance things, all three of these need to be put into play. Let's start with the easiest one, shutter speed. For video, your shutter speed is typically not as flexible as it for still shooting. You're going to shoot at a fiftieth or a sixtieth of a second most of the time. Take the frame rate of your video, multiply by 2, and put a 1 on top. What you'll find is you'll get the ideal shutter speed. Now this doesn't mean you can't shoot differently. It just…
