The three "food groups": Cell service, data access, and money
- Let's talk about our three major food groups for visiting any major city; cell, data, money. We looked into cell service in Paris and it's doable, but it's not cheap. It's 40 Euros, which is like 57 bucks at today's exchange rate. You get 120 minutes of talk, which you probably won't use, 1,000 texts, which is plenty, and one gigabyte of data, which is pretty tight if you're going to be traveling here for like a week or two. You can blow through that pretty easily. What we decided to do was to rely on the wifi in Paris. That's actually not a bad choice, especially if you're just traveling by yourself and you don't need to be getting in touch with other people in your party. In that case, you might both need to get cells. Remember, if you are going to get cell service here, you need to have an unlocked phone. We covered that in fundamentals.
