With any work flow, you're going to have a dedicated solution. And that's the good news. What I have here is a tether cable from a company called Tether Tools. There's lots of folks out there that make these types of solutions. So be sure to shop around and find one that works for you. What I like is that this is really lightweight. It's actually aircraft grade type aluminum, very, very solid, doesn't bend. And it's got a lifetime guarantee which works well. A couple things that really stand out about it that I like. First up, we have a little bit of a raised lip. So, I put that along the back of the computer so that the computer doesn't slide off the back if I push on it.
Chances are as you're working and you're typing, you're pushing on the computer And having this lip across the back is going to keep it from sliding backwards. I've also got a non-slip surface here with this pad, and that's going to keep the laptop from sliding off, and really just keep everything secure and nice and tight and in place. Now, this particular one has a couple of other features that are nice. If we look on the backside what you're going to see here is that I actually attached a tray to make it easier to hold a hard drive. In fact I could fit multiple hard drives in there if I want to, and that's going to make it really easy to store the external storage that I'm going to write to.
I also have a really solid mount here, and what's nice about that mount is that I can go right onto a tripod. Using the smaller hole here or to a C stand with a larger hole. And I've also attached at this end, a jerk stopper which is going to hole the USB cable. Now, this is obviously a very dedicated solution. It's up to you, the good news is, is this whole kit was just a couple hundred bucks and with a lifetime warranty, it's the sort of piece of equipment that I'm going to buy for the studio and it's going to last forever. But, again, you can make your own, there are other companies on the market, do your shopping.
But if you do tethering a lot, think of it this way, spending a little bit more money on a table that has a non-stick surface and keeps things in place is going to keep your gear that much safer. And you don't want to actually lose things, so I've got this, it works. And what I also like is it's got a strap, it's got a strap that's going to make it really easy. That'll just go right across the laptop like that, connect, and it's going to hold the laptop in place on the table. Alright, with that in mind, let's go ahead and build this out the rest of the way by attaching it to a stand.
