I've talked to you all about some of the more mundane stuff I've photographed. You know the, the run of the mill things. I've also been really blessed to photograph some amazing things. I've worked with several museums. one project I worked on for an exhibit I got to go through the storage areas. The back rooms of a museum. Places people never get to see. And they pulled out all these incredibly precious objects out of their vaults for us, for me to photograph. interesting situation in, that you never touch these objects.
one the prepare-tors that was there handling it, commented to me you know is, is I see this incredible artifact put under my, my, my lights. And I'm seeing it closer than any museum visitor ever would and I'm just kind of taking it back by it. And he just leaned over and he said anytime you get to see this stuff out of the cases is special. And it is it's so true. I, I, have worked for, a natural history museum. There, a couple of different art museums.
when you get to put lights on a van Gogh. You get to see it in ways that the general public often doesn't. And it's, it's a really special experience to be intimate with those works. I've also been privileged because of that work. I've developed a whole group of, of artists, working artists that use me to document their work, partly just for their ongoing records. But also to create limited edition prints that they sell. And that's been great fun because I've watched them develop as artists over the years and also as friends, But just the joy of getting to share kind of intimate moments with art is really a treat.
also done a fair amount of jewelry, photography, and seen some things that when my wife sees the pictures I almost wished I'd never photographed them. But it's also you know, knowledge, You get to go places that, that, we did a shoot once, I, I was an assistant on this I didn't, I didn't do the photography. It was a facility for the destructive testing of integrated circuits used in intercontinental ballistic missiles. And it's kind of weird to think that this facility is right there in a town you live in.
And, and, we were, as we went through, the security presence was very strong. you know? A lot of military personnel there, and walking down the hallways. And it's, like, no, you do not look in that direction as we went back to where we were supposed to make our photographs. So, odd stuff like that happens. But I think the thing you know the, one of the things that's always attracted me to it is the incredible variety of experience that I have on a day to day basis.
