Abba Shapiro introduces Perfect Photo Suite, eight powerful modules that allow you to enhance photos, add effects, swap backgrounds, retouch portraits, and convert color photos to evocative black-and-white images. Perfect Photo Suite can be used as both a standalone application and integrated with Aperture, Lightroom, and Photoshop. Abba covers both workflows, and delivers three different adjustment challenges, which help you test your skills.
This is an introductory course produced by RHED Pixel to help both beginner and seasoned photographers quickly realize the benefits of Perfect Photo Suite 8. We are honored to host this training in our library.
One of the most powerful modules, and, and probably one of my favorite modules, is the effects module. It allows me to quickly fix an image and create a unique look for an image with a few clicks, a few slides, and a couple of brushes here and there. We're going to work with this boat that I shot going through the Boston Harbor. And right now, it's, doesn't have a lot of punch. So, I'm going to open it up in the effects module, we're going to work with a copy, as we always do. Now, one of my favorite filters inside the effects module, is the dynamic contrast filter.
Let's go ahead and open up the disclosure triangle and take a look at some of our options. Now, I can simply click on any of these and be patient, because it may take a second for your screen to refresh. If you double click, you're going to start adding layers, so you don't want to do that. You just want to click and select, and see how the different effects look. Now I really like the grunge contrast, and that really does work for me. But maybe I want to tweak it a little bit, so I'm going to go over to the right side and there's some quick preset buttons that I can work with.
And I can go with a natural grunge, I can go with a surreal grunge, or maybe I want to go with a, a soft grunge. I can also change my filter very easily in this tab by clicking on this drop down menu. And choosing another look. So, perhaps, I want to go with one of the High Dynamic Range looks. And I can click to select that. And now I've switched over to a High Dynamic Range look, and we can see that right over here. And I can try again a Surreal, which really pushes it.
And then once I've done that, and I have another drop down menu to cover some of the nuisances of this hdr look. So maybe I really want exaggerated edges. And I'll go ahead and select that. Instead of turning on and off my preview, I'm going to go over here and switch from a single view to, in this case, side by side. Or what I'd really like is the split screen, because I can really tell what the before and the after looks like. Now the HDR is okay, but I really did like that grunge look.
So, let's go ahead and switch back to our Dynamic Contrast. And we'll switch over to our Grunge Contrast. And I'm really going to push it. Make it a little bit surreal. And I like how this works. Go ahead and switch back from that side by side. I'm going to simply click through and go to it full frame and I really like this. So as you can see, working with the perfect effects module is as easy as opening up an image, finding the right preset that fits your needs, selecting it.
Tweaking it just a little bit with a button here or there, and then saving it, closing it, and going on your way.
