PayPal offers a strong array of services for mobile phone and mobile device users. Mobile devices are growing in popularity at a tremendous pace, and you can easily use PayPal with your device to send and receive payments. You can use PayPal in a mobile browser by pointing it to m.paypal.com. From there you can send money, you can link a card, like a debit or credit card, you can shop on eBay, or you can set a PIN number that you will use to secure transactions.
You can also link a mobile number that you can use for texting transactions to the PayPal network, or using your mobile app. Additionally, you can click on this button right here, and go ahead and download the PayPal Application for your device. I am going to login now, and show you how to link your mobile number to this application. Let's go through the process of adding a mobile number to our account. So first of all, we need to click on the link that says Link a mobile number. I can choose a mobile number that's already linked to this account, or I can add a new one.
I am going to go ahead and add a new one. Now a text message will be sent to my mobile device, and I will need to confirm that number that's sent to me. Once I have received the confirmation code, I will enter it into this browser, and then I will click Continue. Now, each time I use the mobile app, I'll need to use a PIN number. So I am going to go ahead and create a PIN number now. Once I have created the PIN, I am ready to use not only the mobile browser with my mobile phone for text messaging and things like that, but I can also use the mobile application.
You can learn more about the mobile options at the regular PayPal Web site, or on the mobile browser here, and there are applications that are available for download for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry devices by visiting the application store or marketplace for your particular device. If you prefer, you can also use SMS to check your balance, send and receive money, and manage your account with simple text message commands. To find these commands, visit your PayPal Profile online, and then click on the Add/Edit Phone Numbers option, and then click on the link that indicates that there is a text messaging option available.
Now, once you download the PayPal app, you will sign in, and then you can look around and see the various features offered by it. To configure the settings for your mobile app, click the Gear icon on the upper left-hand side, then click Settings. Bump allows you to literally bump hands with another PayPal application user, and send a predetermined amount of money quickly and easily. You can turn the Bump feature On or Off. Click Profile, and use the Fundraiser application option to raise money for causes that matter to you.
You can also set your Login Duration period from 2 minutes to 72 hours, that way you are not constantly having to login over and over again. Optionally, you can set up your own small business to indicate that you accept PayPal, and you can be included in the handy app directory that lets customers quickly locate you by clicking on the PayPal local option within Setup. You can also configure Push Notifications, which I don't necessarily recommend for high volume sellers, because you might go crazy with all the flood of notifications coming in through your PayPal account.
But you can turn on and off specific types of notices; this basically means you will receive a Push Notification to your phone when the app is not presently running on the telephone or mobile device. Now let's go back and look at a few more things. Here in the Help Center, you can find all sorts of handy information about how to use your mobile application. You can take a look at your account history by clicking the History button, and you can see all of the transaction history on your account. You can see payments you have sent, and filter them, or received payments, and filter those, or you can take a look at requested payments as well.
When you are using your mobile application, you will always see your PayPal balance there at the top of the app, and then you will be able to see quickly and easily how much money you have in your account. With PayPal mobile applications, you will have the ability to process the same types of transactions with PayPal mobile as you would with the classic site, with a few special enhancements. You can electronically capture a paper check, and then place those funds into your PayPal balance, which is a pretty cool additional feature offered through the PayPal apps. I will walk you through some of these handy features in the rest of this course.
