You can control the look and feel of your communication in Outlook by applying stationary themes and backgrounds to e-mail messages. To configure a theme for your e-mail messages, go to the Tools menu and choose Options. Click on the Mail Format tab, and the Stationery and Fonts button. Notice you can set different fonts for new mail messages or replying. But if you choose a theme, those fonts will be set as part of the theme. So let's pick a theme. Here's a list of themes. Notice some of them are full themes, such as the Afternoon theme, which includes background image, fonts, styles, and even icons for things like bullets.
Or some of them, such as Bears, are simply stationary, so in essence, just a background image. Let's choose the Canyon theme as it's quite distinct. Now when we click a New Message, it's using the Canyon theme. You can set themes for all of your messages in Outlook, but you can also control the background images and themes of colors, fonts and things like that on an individual message basis. Create a new message and click in the Message Details box.
Then go to the Options tab, and in the Themes group you'll see some different options you can choose, such as changing the theme. You can change the colors. You can change the fonts. You can change some of the built-in graphics. You can also change the page color, or the background image for the page. Click on this button and you'll have the option to choose from different colors, some from the theme, other standard colors, you go to More Colors or choose Fill Effects, and there's a lot of flexibility here.
For example, instead of just choosing this one, we can select a picture and have that be our background image if you'd like. Or you can choose a gradient, So let's make a gradient of two colors here from our theme. We'll do it vertically. Left to right, you can also include textures here or other patterns.
So in this way you have complete control over the background, the themes and colors of each message.
