Did you know you can send text messages from Outlook? You can, but you'll need to know which cellular provider your contact is using, such as AT&T or Verizon. When composing an e-mail, enter their cell phone number into the To field just like an e-mail address. Then append the @ symbol, along with a special domain name that most cellular providers have for text messaging. For example, AT&T uses text.att.net. In our exercise files, you'll find TextMessageEmailAddresses, which includes e-mail domains for the most common providers in the US.
If you can't find yours, try searching online or asking the provider. Remember to keep the e-mail short, about 140 characters, and don't forget that your recipients may have to pay when they receive a text message. Let's check out tip number 4.
