Discover how to integrate and enhance video and audio to create a more engaging PowerPoint presentation. In this course, author Alicia Katz Pollock emphasizes the technical details necessary to make a multimedia presentation work: from working with appropriate file formats, to applying video styles, to reducing the file size of multimedia presentations for sharing.
If you have a hyperlink in your slideshow that opens up a webpage while you talk, you can assign a sound effect or audio clip to play while the browser opens. On slide 4 I want to show my audience our website. For my last bullet point I'll type in http://www.hanselandpetal.com. As soon as I hit the Spacebar, it automatically becomes a hyperlink, complete with blue color and underlining. When I'll click on it during my slideshow, it will go to this website.
Now highlight the text and then go to Insert Ribbon. In the center of the Ribbon is an Action button. Click on it and an Action Settings dialog box opens up. At the bottom there's an option for Play Sound and when I click on the dropdown, I get a list of PowerPoint built- in sounds that I can choose from. At the bottom of the list there's the option of choosing Other Sound so that you can use any wave file of your own choice. I'll select Drum Roll and then click OK.
Now we'll play our slideshow and test our hyperlink. I'll click on the Slideshow button and then click on the link. I hear a drum roll and Internet Explorer opens. This adds a sense of humor. Applying a sound clip to a hyperlink is a practical way of using the time it takes to open up a of browser and load the webpage.
