In Outlook 2007 Power Shortcuts, author David Diskin shares an assortment of time-saving tips and tricks to maximize efficiency and productivity in Outlook 2007. You'll recall that in Chapter 1 I showed you how to insert a business xard into an outgoing email. Here I am going to demonstrate how to customize a business card. We can change the information that's included, the layout, and more. Let me show you how. To start we need to open up a contact that we want to modify. I'll go ahead and search for my own. You'll see that the business card here includes personal information, like the home phone and personal email addresses. When passing this business card out to others we might not want that included.
If I right-click on the Business Card image I can choose Edit Business Card, and that brings me into the Business Card Editor. There are several things that I can do here. First, let me remove the personal information. I'll select Home Phone and hit Remove. And I'll repeat this for the second and third email addresses. I'd like my Job Title to appear directly underneath my name, so I'll choose Job Title and use the Up Arrow to move it up. I'd also like my Company name to appear a little larger as well.
Notice that I can change the Font size, Font style, Alignment, and Color of any of the fields shown on my business card. Above, I can change the design of the card, changing where my image appears, the background color. I can change the image itself and the size of the image takes up. If I'd like to reset the card to how it was originally I can click Reset Card at the bottom.
When I'm done I press OK and my card is updated. After I save it, the next time I send this to someone else they will see the new updated business card. Our next chapter covers a variety of tips that apply to Outlook in general, so let's move on to Chapter 7, "Miscellaneous Tips and Tricks."
