One of the things that I oftentimes hear from students is that the Moodle interface tends to be a bit cluttered and hard to deal with and that's because the sidebars over here and over here have all these little blocks of content that can tend to clutter up and get in the way. Well, in Moodle 2, there is a new way to deal with this and that's by adding them to a dock. To do this all you need to do is move your mouse over the upper right-hand corner of any of these blocks and look for the small icon that looks like a small box. When you click on that, what it does is that it takes the entire block and it moves it over into this sidebar.
You can access all the information in that block by simply hovering your mouse over the menu name for that block and then the block pops out over top of your screen. Very handy! Let's go ahead and move all of the blocks from the left-hand side over into the dock by simply clicking on the Move to dock icon. Now, all of our blocks have moved over here as individual menu items so that we can still access all the information in them, but the main content that we are wanting to focus on has been able to spread out and have a much easier way of dealing with it.
You can also move all of the blocks from the right-hand side over to the dock as well. You can simply use the same button to click on them over here. Now you only have one bit of content right here in the middle of your screen that you can focus on. This could be all of your coursework or any number of the pages inside of Moodle. You can still access all of the items over here on the left. If you want to return a particular item back over to the sidebar, you can simply move your mouse over top of it, and then click the icon for Undock this item to move it back where it originally was.
Now if you want to move all of the items back at one time, you can move down to the bottom of the sidebar and simply click Undock all and then all of those icons go back onto the page where they initially were. It's a very helpful tool to help you navigate and clean up the arrangement of your pages.
