Grading with scales
In certain classes and with certain assignments, a letter grade or number grade can be a little arduous for a teacher to assign to papers. Sometimes I like to use a scale. A very common scale that I use in my own students is a zero, check minus, check or check plus. These are typically for small assignments that are turned in on a regular basis. It allows me to quickly go through and assign a symbol to students work so they get some feedback from the instructor, without having to take the time to calculate an actual letter grade. Let's go ahead and talk about how we can build scales directly into Moodle, and then apply those scales to our assignments. On the left hand side we're going to start by clicking on grades in the Administration panel. Under grades we're going to scroll down until we see scales.
