Want to make new friends? Connect with other sports enthusiasts? Or network with local industry experts? Meetup is the place to connect with people who share your interests. In this short course, author Maria Langer shows you how to get started with Meetup. Learn how to find a group, join it, RSVP to a meetup, connect with members, and share photos and feedback after an event.
(xylophone music) Hi. I'm Maria Langer and I'd like to welcome you to Up and Running with Meetup. The internet is great for social networking, but it's mostly for building what I call virtual friendships; that's friendships with people you might never ever meet in person. Meetup.com is different. On Meetup, you can find people who share the same interests as you, and actually meet them in person while enjoying activities you all like. It's a great way to get know people in your area and stay active.
In these videos, I'll tell you everything you need to know to get started using Meetup; creating an account, setting up your profile, finding groups of people with similar interests, and browsing Meetup activities. Then I'll explain how to RSVP for a meet up, and how you can share your photos and feedback after an event. Are you ready to meet up? Well then, let's get started.
