Hi! I'm George Maestri. Welcome to Maya 2011 Essential Training. Maya 2011 is one of the most popular 3D modeling, rendering and animation packages on the market today. It's used for special effects, character animation and motion graphics for feature films, television, design and games. Maya 2011 Essential Training will give you the skills you need to model, texture, animate and render within this very deep and robust piece of software. First, we'll look at Maya's interface, learn how to navigate and manipulate objects in 3D.
Next, we'll create some objects and learn how to model. We'll start off with polygonal modeling to understand how to build characters and other organic objects. After that, we'll move on to NURBs modeling, which can be used to create vehicles and other solid objects. Maya's shading and texturing tools allow you to add color to your models. I'll show you how to create surfaces that mimic those found in the real world, and use bitmap textures to add in your own images. Maya 2011 has some very robust animation tools that allow you to bring things to life.
I'll first show you how to rig a simple character. Then, we'll animate the character in a short scene using the assets we've created. Finally, we'll look at rendering in Maya. We're learning how to set up lights and cameras, as well as how to create realistic effects, such as depth of field and motion blur. We'll also set up a complete scene for rendering and final output.
