Video: Taking your store live

Once you have got all of your store settings in place and you've got some products inside of your store, it's time to take your store live. Up until now, we've been working under the assumption that the store is not necessarily published yet, and you will notice that by seeing this across the top, the this store is under construction and any orders placed, will not be honored or fulfilled. In order to take this live, so that you can start taking orders and actually start making money, you need to go up to Start My Store, go down to Get Going and select Launch Your Store.

Taking your store live

Once you have got all of your store settings in place and you've got some products inside of your store, it's time to take your store live. Up until now, we've been working under the assumption that the store is not necessarily published yet, and you will notice that by seeing this across the top, the this store is under construction and any orders placed, will not be honored or fulfilled. In order to take this live, so that you can start taking orders and actually start making money, you need to go up to Start My Store, go down to Get Going and select Launch Your Store.

Once you do that, you will be brought to this screen where it says you're almost there. We have one final reminder for you prior to launching your site. If you would like your customers to be able to complete the checkout process entirely from your own web address, for example, www.mystore.com, you'll need to go ahead and set up your own domain and custom SSL certificate. For more information on enabling that, you can view these two links which take you to those pages. I do cover setting up a custom domain in this course, so you might want to check out that movie as well. That's going to be in the Customizing Your Store chapter, a little bit later on.

It tells you that when you're ready to launch your store and open for business, click the Go button at the bottom of the screen. This will then take your store live and allow you to be open for business. If you're not ready to do this yet, you can simply click Cancel and it will take you right back out. My recommendation is to go through all of these different steps one more time, check them out, make sure you have got everything set up the way you want, then go through your product listings again, make sure everything has been tweaked properly in there, make sure the images are okay, make sure the descriptions are in place, make sure all of the attributes are exactly the way you want them.

And then once you're ready to launch your store, just come right back up to this little bar, click Start My Store > Get Going > Launch Your Store, and when you click the Go button, your store is now open for business and you're ready to start taking in some money.
