Configuring a shopping cart for your business usually means working with a series of shifting parts. Magento Go helps merchants quickly and easily build a store to sell products and services online, with no software to install and configure and no servers to manage. In this course, author Justin Seeley shows how to use the robust set of tools in Magento Go to create, manage, and grow your online business. The course covers setting up products, product categories, tax settings, and shipping methods; creating payment methods with PayPal, Authorize.Net, and Google Checkout; customizing your store's pages and themes; and managing customer data and product ratings.
Another popular payment gateway on the Internet today is something called Authorize.Net, and Authorize.Net allows you to accept payments online basically by utilizing their system much the same way you would something like PayPal. The difference between Authorize.Net and something like PayPal is the fact that Authorize.Net does not have any free options; you actually have to pay to use Authorize.Net. They do have some selling points, they're a little bit more scalable in some people's opinion. They do allow you to process credit cards and transactions without actually having to use something like a PayPal account for instance. The buyer does not have to have an Authorize.Net account to purchase from you.
So in order to get an Authorize.Net account, just go to Authorize.Net and then click the big Sign Up Now button right here. Once you do that, you'll be taken through a three step process where you will enter in information about yourself and your company on the first part here. You will then be taken to create your login ID and password, and then finally, you will submit your application. You will need a lot of information when you're going through this process. The information you need is listed over here on the right. You will need your company information; that's the name, the address, the phone number, that kind of stuff.
You will also need the account owner's information; name, address, and phone number. You will need bank account information for billing. So where are they going to actually charge you to, is it going to be your bank account, your credit card, et cetera. You will need merchant account information if that is something that you're interested in, and you will also need to know that the application does take 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and they do offer a Help section to get you started as well. If you want to know the pricing upfront, just click the Pricing button right here, and you'll see that the setup fee is $99, the monthly gateway fee is $20, and they do charge a per-transaction fee of 10 cents per transaction, and a batch fee of 25 cents.
There are more details available as you're going through the application process. So if you have any questions about the payments, they will hopefully answer those there. They do also have email support down here, a phone number that you can call, very easy to do. Once you have set this up and get all the information you need, go back into your Magento dashboard if you're going to use Authorize.Net, and you'll go to System > Configuration. Inside of the Configuration you are going to scroll down until you find the Sales section and then find Payment Methods.
Once the Payment Method screen loads, you're going to scroll down until you find Authorize.Net and expand it out. You can choose to enable this. Once you choose to enable it, you can then give it a Title, Payment Action, you will have to provide your API Login ID and Transaction Key. Those are both available to you inside of your Settings on your Authorize.Net account. So you can find more information about that on the Authorize.Net site. Do you want to email the customer? Yes, or no. Type in your merchant's email, where is this coming from, and tell it what type of credit card you wish to accept; American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, et cetera.
You can then ask for credit card verification, payment from which countries, you can specify or allow all countries, it doesn't matter. You can give your Transaction ID a prefix. All of the options without a red star again are simply optional. Anything with a red star next to it is required. So none of this is actually required, because of the fact that you can use whatever payment gateway that you choose. But if you want to set up Authorize.Net, you can actually fill out all of this information corresponding to the information in your Authorize. Net profile, and then set up all the options that you want for your site as well, like minimum and maximum order totals, whether or not you're running this in Test Mode, what the sorting order is, all of that can be determined from this screen.
Once you have finished setting all of this up, you can choose Save Config, Authorize.Net will then become your new default payment method here inside of Magento Go, and you can process credit card payments directly from your store using your Authorize.Net account.
