So let's take a look at how we can customize our electric piano model. So once we've set our model in the Global portion up here, I can customize the decay and release and the amount of bell and damper sound, as well as the Stereo Intensity. Let's take a look at what we can do with that. Starting with the decay, if I play the note now and let it sustain, it takes a while for it to decay. If I bring this to the left, it's going to shorten the decay. (music playing) So now it has more of the articulation of a palm-muted electric guitar.
If I go in the other direction to the right, the decay is going to take longer. (music playing) So you can hear it really rings out for a long time as I'm holding down the note. (music playing) It's also a little bit less dynamic. My Release control, that controls how quickly the damper is going to mute the vibrating tines of the electric piano. So if I move the Damper to the left and let go of the note, it quickly cuts off.
If I go to the right, you can hear that the damper is applied more slowly to the vibrating tines to mute them. If we go over to the right, we have a couple other parameters. We can adjust the amount of bell in the sound. So that's the enharmonic bright portion to the tone. (music playing) So here is a lot of bell, and then we'll decrease the amount. (music playing) Right, so that really makes a difference to the brightness in the attack portion of the sound.
We can also adjust the volume of the damper. When we release the note, the damper muting the vibrating tines actually makes this sound, so I can increase the volume of that. So you can hear a little bit of damper noise there, or you can have less of it. (music playing) Then we can also adjust the Stereo Width. So when we have the Intensity all the way up, what that means is that notes that are on the higher range of the keyboard are going to be further to the right, in terms of their panning, and lower notes are going to be further to the left. (music playing) If you lessen the amount of Stereo Intensity, it's just going to make it all more centered.
(music playing) So less of an exaggerated stereo image. So now that we've customize our Logic piano model, in the next video, let's explore how we can add some pitch variation using the Stretch parameters.
