If you are a premium member to the lynda.com Online Training Library, you have access to the exercise files. Once you've copied those exercise files to the Desktop, you can go ahead and open up the folder. And there you will discover that all of the images that we'll be working on throughout the entirety of this training course are grouped, or organized, into folders. Now what we need to do is to import these photos into Lightroom to begin working with them. So let's go ahead and open up Lightroom and next navigate to the File pulldown menu.
Here you want to click on File and then select Import Photos. This will then open up the Import dialog. The next step will be to click on the folder titled "Exercise Files", and here you can see all the various exercise files that we will be working on in this course. Once we've selected that particular folder, what we want to do is simply add these to our catalog. So we will select this option here. I want to make sure to render the previews out. We might as well render the 1:1 previews, because there aren't a ton of files in this folder, and next, simply click Import.
What will happen then is that Lightroom begin to import all of these files, except for one, which is this file here--we will be talking about it later-- scott_without_maximize_compatibility turned on. So for now, just go ahead and click OK in order to ignore that. Now to access the files, we can scroll through the entirety of this folder, or you can always expand or open up the folder, and then you can click on a particular subfolder-- for example, like this one here--in order to view the images in that folder. Now as you click around, if you find that there's an image that we're working on, you can go ahead and double-click that image in order to view this in the Loupe view, so you can make sure you're working with the correct file.
Now if you don't have access to the exercise files, no big deal; you can always simply follow along, or of course, you can always use your own photographs. All right, well now that we've imported these images, let's begin.
