Here I want to briefly point out some of the areas where we will discover some new presets and templates inside of Lightroom 3. In particular we're going to take a look at where we'll find these in the Library, Develop, Print, and Web modules. Well, let's start off in the Library module. If you open up the Quick Develop panel, you'll notice that you have an area where you can apply a saved preset. Well, if you click on this pulldown menu, what you'll discover to your surprise is there are a huge range of options here.
Now in order to apply one of these, simply select the preset that you want to use and click on it. It will then apply that to that particular photograph. You can also find these presets by going to the Develop module. In the Develop module it's kind of interesting, because what you can do is you can open up the Navigator panel and with the Navigator panel opened, you can scroll through your presets and then hover over the different presets in order to gain a preview of what this might look like up here. In this case, let's say we want to try the black-and-white filter with the blue filter, and it gives us a completely different and distinct look.
Now in order to really highlight or illustrate what's changed here compared to Lightroom 2, what I'm going to do is close the Navigator panel for a moment and I'll scroll up to the top here and you can see we have this huge list. Comparatively, if I open up Lightroom 2, we'll see in the Develop module we have a handful of presets and now we have this many plus more. So then back to Lightroom 3, we can scroll through all of these presets and you can see there is a huge range of options there.
What about the Print module? Well, in the Print module, we'll discover that we have a number of different templates. Before we had a handful. Here we have many more. In order to use one of these templates, we can simply click on the option, like Custom Overlap x3 with a Border. Here we can click on that option and get a preview of what this will look like. Next we can simply drag and drop photographs into this and I'll just bring in some images here just to give you an idea of how we might use one of these templates.
We have a number of different options compared to Lightroom 2. So let's go ahead and open up Lightroom 2 and what I'll do here is simply navigate over to the Print module. Here are the number of templates we had in Lightroom 2 and now we have that many plus a number of others as well. All right, back to Lightroom 3. Well, if we make our way to the Web module what we'll discover is that once again we have a huge range of options here. You can scroll through those options.
In order to select one, all that you need to do is to simply click on that option. It will then update the preview here in the middle area of Lightroom. Now how do these options compare to what we had before? Well, let's scroll back to the top so we can see the list and once again let's open up Lightroom 2. Well, here in Lightroom 2 when I go to the Web gallery, you can see once again that we had a handful of templates. Now in Lightroom 3, we have all of those plus a number of others. So as you can see here, we have a number of different presets and templates that we can take advantage of in order to speed up our overall workflow so that we can be more creative and more functional.
