Hey, welcome to another creative photographic tip! One of my life's biggest privileges is to be on the photography faculty at the Brooks Institute. As a result of being on the photography faculty, I have this distinct privilege of interacting with all different types of photographers, whether students or teachers or world leaders in the industry. Whenever we bring in a celebrity photographer or a guest speaker, one of the best photographers in the world, I always go out of my way to sit down and talk with them. One of the things that I ask them is, I say, how was it out there? What's it like? And they always say invariably, "photography is competitive. It is hard." Whenever I hear that, I think to myself, good.
Because if photography wasn't hard, it wouldn't be so fun. It wouldn't be so rewarding. Then I go on to say, well, what character qualities do you think that the aspiring photographer needs? Again, invariably, they respond with "tenacity." So, right now, if you're feeling a little bit worn down or little bit tired, if you're feeling like throwing in the towel, don't. It's worth it. Keep that in mind, in order to get great, in order to make amazing photographs, you have to have that tenacity. That iron will to never give up.
