In LightWave 10 Essential Training, author Dan Ablan provides thorough, step-by-step instructions on building 3D models, scenes, and animations in LightWave 10. Beginning with a tour of the interface and LightWave's two main programs, Modeler and Layout, the course covers key concepts such as building models from basic polygonal shapes, assigning textures, and employing lights and 3D cameras to build real world scenes. Also included are tutorials explaining particle animation, dynamics, and bones. Exercise files accompany the course.
Hi! I am Dan Ablan, and I would like to welcome you to LightWave 10 Essential Training. In this course, we are going to cover navigation through both LightWave Modeler and Layout. You will see how to model with both polygons and subdivision surfaces and use the Surface Editor to apply materials. I will show you real-world lighting setups, and you will see how to set up scenes with multiple lights and objects and then animate them using keyframes while editing motions in the Graph Editor. Beyond the basics, you will see how to create particle animation, set up collisions with motion dynamics, and deform objects with hierarchies using bones.
Finally, we'll take a look at how to render animations for various playback media. I have been using LightWave since 1.0 way back in 1990, and I am thrilled to be able to share my knowledge with you in LightWave 10 Essential Training.
