In Migrating from Joomla! 1.5 to Joomla! 2.5, Jen Kramer walks through moving a typical site to Joomla! 2.5 using two different tools, jUpgrade and SP Upgrade. jUpgrade and SP Upgrade migrate the 1.5 database content to 2.5 automatically, which maintains your data and settings. Jen shows how to download and configure the tools; how to adjust modules, images, and templates that may have shifted during the move; and how to update an old custom template for Joomla! 2.5 and fix any styling issues postmigration.
Note: jUpgrade is free, while SP Upgrade has a small fee.
Hi! I'm Jen Kramer! Welcome to Migrating Joomla! 1.5 to Joomla! 2.5. Content management systems are growing in popularity for creating both simple and complex web sites. Joomla! is one of the three best-known open- source content management systems in the world. In this course, I will show you how to prep your Joomla! 1.5 web site for migration to Joomla! 2.5. After that, I'll show you how to move your Joomla! 1.5 web site to Joomla! 2.5 using two third-party extensions; jUpgrade and SP Upgrade.
After the move, I'll show you how to reinstall and reconfigure third-party extensions and templates. I'll also show you how to migrate a custom template between Joomla! versions. Finally, we'll test the migrated sites to make sure they're working well after the move. So if you're ready, let's get started with migrating Joomla! 1.5 to Joomla! 2.5.
